Here the user is presented with options on how to receive communication from MBNA during the sign-up process for a credit card. Confusingly there are two categories of options which at a glance look the same, however making a selection in one means you will receive communication and it appears that no making a selection in the other also means you will receive communication. Because people scan these forms and might expect that ticking a box will simply either opt them in or out MBNA may be successful in getting a few more people to sign up when they didn’t want to.
